I'm an Architect!

As of August 28, 2020, I can officially call myself a real ARCHITECT, in the state of Texas.
This journey has been anything but easy, and I truly could not have done it without my support and a little help - thanks to Covid-19. At the end of February 2020 I had 4 out of 6 exams completed then the pandemic forced Texas to lock down in March. I forced myself to use the time that I had accumulated from commuting to do just one thing - study. In over 6 months and over a thousand hours in studying, August 10th, I passed my last exam.

My journey to become an Architect started in 2005 when I enrolled in my first few courses at Texas Tech University. With a lot of sleepless nights and determination, I graduated with my Bachelor of Science in Architecture December 2008. I took some time off to save money and figure out the next step in my career and prepare for applying to graduate school. Summer 2010, I packed up a few suitcases and made the move to Chicago to attend graduate school at Illinois Institute of Technology. Sleepless nights, gas station snacks, walking to school in the sub zero winter mornings, I would ask myself daily, “wtf did I just do?”
August 2012, I graduated with my Masters with a job in hand. After working for over 15 months, we made the move back to Texas. Finding a job was easier this time around and the pay wasn’t terrible. April 2014, I started working at my current firm BRW Architects.
8 years after graduation, 20 exams taken, and over 10 thousand hours of experience later, crossing over every obstacle that life could throw at me, I finally F%&$ing did it!

So… the question is, what is next, aside from updating all my signatures?
To be honest, I am not quite sure, and frankly, I am okay with that!
For now aside from working, I will be going to the gym and watching crap TV and will continue to do so until I get bored out of mind.

Thanks for following journey, at some point I will get back to blogging regularly.
