12 hours in Chicago

On Saturday, my parents, husband and I went to Chicago for the day.  Our day started at 7:00am as we left DFW and landed in ORD at 9:00am.  We took the train to the Grand Blue Line stop to have brunch at one of my favorite spots- Iguana Café.  After gorging on crepes and waffles, we then ventured down memory lane of Kinzie Street passing Blommer's Chocolate Factory and our old apartment.

We caught the brown line at the Merchandise Mart towards the loop to make our way to the Chicago Cultural Center to see the Chicago Architecture Biennial.  We perused through the galleries of concept models, prototypes, and planning studies- I could spent the entire day here.

Our next stop was to Millennium Park to see the Bean.  As we fought through the crowds to get our typical selfie, we then meandered through Grant Park making our way to Lake Michigan lakefront.

The journey continued to the Signature Room at the Hancock Tower for drinks and views.  We then concluded our day trip to Giordano's Pizzeria for 312 and deep dish, before heading back to the airport to catch our flight back to DFW.

Going to a city in which you have lived in and visited often is great way to go on a day trip.  With our ambitious itinerary it was easy to adjust timing and contingencies.  This was also the first time that I was able to show my parents around Chicago on foot.   As always, I look forward to my next adventure here.  Until next time Windy City.
